Rooted Reads Book Club: The Blue Plate, October 26, 2026

October 26 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Flyer for the Rooted Reads book club event at Horse & Dragon Brewing in Fort Collins on October 26, 2026, featuring The Blue Plate by Claire Boyles, with event details and book discount information.

Join us in person at Horse and Dragon Brewing (145 Raquette Dr, Fort Collins) for our Rooted Reads: Food + Farming Book Club to build community and engage in conversation about stories of food and agriculture. These conversations are casual, fun and led by Claire Boyles, a PVCF board member, award-winning writer and former farmer.

We’ll be discussing The Blue Plate by Mark Easter, a local Fort Collins author who will be joining us to discuss the book. The Blue Plate examines the environmental costs of the modern American diet through the foods that make up a typical plate. Using accessible data and clear examples, Easter traces how everyday choices around meat, grains, and processed foods drive land use, water consumption, pollution, and climate impacts. The book makes the case that diet is one of the most powerful and overlooked levers for environmental change. It is a pragmatic, data grounded look at how small shifts in what we eat can add up to meaningful systemic impact.
