Poudre Valley Community Farms (PVCF) and The Northern Colorado Foodshed Project have signed an agreement to explore a potential merger.
What is the Northern Colorado Foodshed Project?
The Foodshed Project, as some may recall, emerged from early work done by PVCF - and it has grown over the past six years into an exciting operational partner currently administering two innovative projects: one with PVCF and one with the Larimer County Foodbank. The Foodshed Project improves market access for locally produced food through a Mobile Farmer’s Market program and helps young farmers build their businesses through an Accelerator Project on land co-managed with PVCF.
PVCF continues its mission to secure farmland and water resources in Northern Colorado and leases land to local producers at rates they can afford.
Why are we considering a merger?
Both PVCF and The Foodshed Project share a deep commitment to strengthening the local food system in Northern Colorado and have been working closely for years and our missions are complementary.
In a rapidly changing world and funding environment, it's imperative nonprofits evaluate their operations and adjust. We believe a merger could make our combined missions even more resilient and allow us to operate more efficiently with reduced overhead costs.
We welcome your input and encourage you to share it with us here.
